I watched a couple of episodes of Carter’s remake series, too, but it just wasn’t what I was looking for. Darren McGavin and his concept of who Kolchak was was what made the original show. The original did only last one season. 20 episodes and two movies. I think I read somewhere that Carter wanted McGavin to play Kolchak in The X-Files but they couldn’t make it happen. McGavin’s poor health limited his appearances on the show, too, eventually leading to him being replaced by Arthur Dale’s brother, also named Arthur Dale, who was also an ex-fbi agent. Or something like that. I never thought of the burning cross as being Klannish, just as a way to make a sensationalistic ending, but I guess it could be seen that way. I used to watch F-Troop often on reruns. It was dumb fun like most 60s sitcoms. I’d really like to that Vincent Price vampire episode now. | |||||||
