I don't know that I had read your prior review of "The Old Dark House" until now, that sounds like a forgotten Universal classic.
I watched the '90s remake of Dark Shadows and mostly liked it. I was curious about the original but like you, I'm not sure where to begin. I wonder if somebody has a good recap video?
Vampire F-Troop? I had no idea. Was F-Troop a color show or is that just a still photo in color? I always saw the reruns in black and white.

I really haven't seen many episodes of Thriller but I'd like to watch more. According to wikipedia, Boris starred in 5 episodes and hosted the rest. The show has a very good reputation, more in the vein of Alfred Hitchcock Presents than The Twilight Zone, but tells more gothic horror tales. While Masquerade was creepy and fun,
Pigeons From Hell was truly chilling. An excellent episode.
"A forgotten Universal classic" is an apt summation of The Old Dark House. If you like the horror movies of the early 30s, you'll like it. I's not a monster movie, but it's James Whale, Boris Karloff and Charles Laughton. A great second tier Universal classic.
I wanted to watch the House of Dark Shadows movie from 1970 since I figured it'd tell a stand alone story while also giving a feel of the series but I couldn't find it online for free. I'll keep searching, though.
The first season of F-Troop was in b&w while the second was in color. I always loved how the Hekawi tribe got their name. Taken from wikipedia:

Tribe travel west, over stream, over river, over mountain, over mountain, over river, over stream! Then come big day... tribe fall over cliff. That when Hekawi get name. Medicine man say to my ancestor, "I think we lost. Where the heck are we?". "Where the heck are we?" became "We're the Hekawi" (the original name for the tribe in the series, 'Fugawi', was changed after the censors discovered the sentence "Where the Fugawi?")
