I caught a marathon of most of this series once on some cable channel, and I didn't understand it, but I liked it. It would be worth revisiting.

Yes, I think so. I was very young when I first watched an episode in the 1980s. It is a rediscovery.

There was some attempt at a remake on the Sci-Fi Channel or something, right? I assume it was not an improvement on the original.

I didn't watch it.

IMO, Terry Gilliam's Brazil is one of the true inheritors. \:\-\)
