Count me in as skeptical as well. Cates has been hit or miss on Thor, at times I've felt he has respect for the character but at other times I'm just a bit baffled. He wrote Venom well, but then again I came into that blind having not kept up with the character for years now for the most part. I remember being excited for Waid to take over this series a few years ago after the shitshow Aaron dealt us only to be equally underwhelmed with Waid's take, so it is hard to not have doubts now. Hulk in some sort of partial armor with a cylcops-like visor, and is he just going to fly through space? Is this a space suit? Will he have a ship? If not and just this thing with a jetpack, this sure feels more like Marvel Adventures like someone else said. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it for what it was and at the time it was often more enjoyable than the real in-continuity series (if I remember correctly), but we can't have the real Hulk acting out of character and being silly like this.
I'll be giving the book a shot, no doubt, and I'll probably pick up every issue because I'm a completionist... but I hope I'm also enjoying it. I won't lie, I love seeing Hulk beat the hell out of other characters so if we are in for that ride, I'm down. But instead of new worthless characters we'll never see again, I'd love for a slugfest with Mangog for instance and some cosmic heavy hitters.
