I bought into Grendel when it first appeared, and followed it as the back up feature to the
Mage, Hero Discovered series. Comico ran into financial difficulties, so I never got back to
the Hero series when part 2 finally appeared, and I also never much enjoyed Grendel when it
featured Hunter Rose's granddaughter Christine Spar taking on the identity of Grendel. Both of
these Wagner series were held back because Wagner had difficulties obtaining his characters
back after Comico's bankrupcy. Had they both been more evenly released, I likely would have
been more of a fan—especially of the Mage series and Kevin Matchstick.

I got at least one of the Batman/Grendel team-ups.

The first MAGE was a real good series. That's where I first saw Grendel too. Mage was more entertaining - the big reveal of the baseball bat was so neat!
