I'm uneven on Leonardi. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate. I will agree that his name doesn't come up enough in conversations. He's been there and done some important stuff.

Silvestre Szilagyi is the artist currently doing the interiors on Phantom. I managed to locate some samples at the link below. Also a few pages I've added to this post. His stuff is lovely I think, and I like his sleek Phantom.

Thanks for answering Rip.

I believe Leonardi's pencils first captured my eye on Cloak and Dagger and I've been happily stumbling upon it or outright tracking it down ever since. And while I'm not sure I could have pin-pointed why I liked it so much at the time, years later I can say that it's no doubt the craftsmanship, fluidity and expressive line art that really sets him apart. Or to put it another way, his characters move effortlessly from panel to panel in the "Marvel Way" that exudes the kind of excitement that comics should have. All with an impressive art style behind the expressive lines. Like John Buscema, Frank Robbins, and those from that school, I think Leonardi is one of the real 'masters of motion' and I always appreciate that in this panel-to-panel medium.

Yup, that's good stuff!

The coloring, in the online images at least, kind of distracts from how good those pencils are. Any chance it's a little more muted in the books? Otherwise, very impressive.
