Switch #1 is the best Witchblade/Darkness story I've ever read. It sets up the new possessor of the Witchblade, Mary, really well, and intriguingly world-builds the Witchblade/Darkness/Angelus mythology without anyone having to know backstory while dropping Easter eggs for those who do. And it ends on a great cliffhanger. Stjepan Sejic was always a terrific artist, but with this and Sunstone, he's really shown he's a terrific writer as well.

Thanks for the heads up. I forgot this came out and was hoping it would be a good jumping on point for a Witchblade noob. I've been a huge fan of Aphrodite IX and IXth Gen which has incorporated the artifacts and of course the Witchblade on Aphrodite herself. But despite all the praise for 'Blade its never gotten my full attention.

Per the link you provided this is a self existing universe he's establishing and man, it is GOOD. The artwork doesn't have his usual polished digital painting finish but Sejic delivers on every level here. The worst thing about this book is having to wait for the next issue. Best book of the week for sure.
