There is quite a few to choose from this week.
Do you recommend any go-tos?
The higher the issue #, the more reliability?
Preferably no scratchy/surreal/sucky artstyle books.

Wrath of the Eternal Warrior.
Gilad is such a true hero. Sacrificing peace and happiness with his beloved family to return from death time and again to keep the world's geomancer safe. The art by Raul Allen really tells the story without a heavy need of dialogue or direction from writer Robert Venditti. Not that he doesn't pem some fine and memorable lines throughout the course of the book! Its a great story from Venditti chronicling Gilad's life when he dies and then his struggles to return to his responsibility to humanity. I am a huge fan of Valiant and as time and money permits I am picking up backissues/trades to get to know this exciting comic book universe. Can't recommend this company and their line of titles enough!
