From IDW written by Beau Smith and drawn by Lora Innes is a new addition to my pull list. I saw adds for a new series on ScyFy starring this character and thought I would check it out and am glad I did. A little about the book to quote
"All paranormal crime is handled by the US Government's most mysterious and shadowy branch of law enforcement, the US Marshals Black Badge Division"
"It takes a very special person to be able to hunt down paranormal fugitives without being devoured by the very darkness they are hunting"
"That special person is Wynnona Earp, descendant of the most famous US Marshal to ever live, Wyatt Earp. This is her story. His legend, her legacy, their law."
The first issue has great pacing in setting up this new title. Lots of action and a fine introduction to the star and supporting cast (including Doc Holiday).
I enjoy supernatural stories and have an interest in America's old west heritage and the first issue integrates the two well for a modern tale of monster hunting justice. Its a six issue limited series and I look forward to the next installment.
Finally took your advice and picked up Earp. That was a fun ride, as noted plenty of action but enough background and character development to whet the appetite. Picked it up through Comixology and saw there was an original series which had a goddess like buxom Wynona in half shirts and shiny leather pants from the same writer. Although it had some striking black and white art I think I'll stick to this new iteration for now. Maybe if the tv show spurs a sale on those 2 collected editions..
