From publisher Dynamite, this was really a very good first issue. The book stars Magnus, Robot Fighter; Turok, Dinosaur Hunter; the Samson from biblical times and a new take on Dr. Solar; all from Gold Key Comics yesteryear. I'm old enough that I even own some of these originals from the 70's so its a nostalgic trip down memory lane with an all new modern day take on these iconic characters. I'd all but forgotten about them to be honest, until I saw this on the shelf Wednesday and decided to give it a try. Brent Peeples art is crisp, clear and he tells a fluent story panel to panel that's easy and enjoyable to follow. Phil Hester is an excellent writer and he doesn't disappoint here as he really sets up the characters and their individual stories that will eventually be interwoven together to face the stories main villain. There's action, adventure and mystery throughout at a fine pace and I eagerly await the second issue.

I think this is a Samson from a post-apocalyptic future, not the Biblical one.

I'm disappointed they're missing the Owl/Owlman, not to mention Dr Spektor.
