I am glad it wasn't just me! Sometimes I wonder whether I am being too hard.
I like Joe Harris work a great deal on The X-Files and remain supportive. For now. But the previous series had slowly drifted into this territory, with huge conspiracy opaque conspiraclyarcs and variable art, for a relaunch I had hoped for a fresh start and renemed accessibility, away from those sort of plodding arcs. It does seem to me that this is a series that could do regular/occasional standalone issues and do them well, in a similar vein to the old 'Astounding Tales' type of science fiction/thriller stories.
