I wonder how they got the rights to use the character, so long after the death of her creator.

Maybe, they convinced the current owners of the intellectual property ?

... I don't know if there are heirs.

Still, in my head, Barbarella is so associated with the style of her creator that I cannot imagine anybody else drawing her ...




There is a Forest estate, who have granted rights to things like the 2004 Barbarella musical and a movie in the works.
