Spoilers just in case, even though the story is a few years old. I know that there was some kind of retcon that tied the two of them together, but I haven't read it, and I don't know the exact details. It had them fighting and it had them as adversaries (I hear.). It sounds Like Tony did something bad again though, and gives yet another reason to dislike him.

In short: Just to annoy Bruce Banner, General Ross called Tony to analyze the experimental gamma bomb, to make sure the project would work.

Realizing the true reason for being called upon to analyze the project, Tony reported to Ross that the test would certainly be a success because the bomb design was very good, and at the same time, prepared a second report just for Bruce to read. In that report Tony told Bruce that he discovered that the bomb was too powerful and would kill everyone on the test site, but he fixed it. That was Tony’s original sin, because Bruce would rather have prefered to die that day and thus never have become the Hulk.

However, Bruce also had a original sin, because in that same e-mail, Tony reported that the bomb emitted weird emissions with mutagenic properties. But Bruce was so angry, that he never read that part and deleted the e-mail, blocking further messages from Tony.

You are correct, per Original Sin that is what occurred.

Tony was concerned about all the heat shielding Banner had in the bomb, and corrected it thus adjusting its power levels. Banner was furious and did ignore/delete the warnings from Tony about mutation potential.

However, if memory serves back in Pak's run (I think it was his run) on the Hulk there were implications made that Banner knew full well or at least had a good idea what gamma rays could do, and that Banner had supposedly prepped himself back before the bomb test with gamma mutagens that would allow him to survive the bomb blast. After all, how DID Banner survive that blast? Luck? Preparation? Both? Also wasn't it kind of odd that Banner, knowing how tough it was to control the Hulk, would still use a gamma machine in his secret cave in the early issues of the Hulk to induce the changes to Hulk and back to Banner again?

Just how many Original Sins does Banner have regarding the gamma bomb and birth of the Hulk? ;\)
