I don't think so. This "Tony" had a bomb planted near children. There's no way the Mandarin looking guy calling himself Tony Stark is the real deal. It would be a bigger character-assassination than the Crossing if he is.

Excellent point: it may be the first clue that we haven't seen the real Tony Stark in the comics for an undetermined length of time.

There's a heavy BWAHAHA vibe to that final picture of "Tony", which makes me think that he might be controlling Machine Man, maybe infecting him with some virus that reduces his empathy and heightens his aggression.

Indeed. Compared to the character created by Jack Kirby, this version of Machine Man is uncharacteristically aggressive. One version of Machine Man was once infected by Sentinel programming (which may explain a lot).

I'm not saying I'm 100% sold on my theory that that's the Mandarin. But that guy is evil. You don't code his final image the way they did if you intend him to be a good guy.

At first, I thought that it was the true Tony Stark but your example with the children changed my mind.

Curiously enough, before this story, in the hypothesis of a robot uprising in the Marvel Universe, I imagined that Ultron would have been the leader and taken control of the Sentinels' Master Mold and the Adaptoids to do so. (Actually, I wonder why Ultron never did it.)

And yet, so far, it is unlikely that Ultron Pym will be involved this time around, so soon after his appearance in the 'Tony Stark: Iron Man' book.

I don't know if Dan Slott & Christos Gage plan to revisit this specific event but Tony once used Recorder 451's knowledge to help rebuild Troy/Mandarin City. Tony later decided to give the robot back to the Rigellians, as the robot was transmitting an alien frequency that had made the Mandarin's Rings sentient.
