Right. However, may I assume you’ve never had any design or typography-related classes? One assumes someone working as a professional letterer (graphic designer/illustrator) would have, and should know the difference.

Of course you may assume that. You would, however, be wrong. \:\) I have a degree in art and studied graphic design as well as being an English 'buff'. I know what you mean when you said it would have been correct for him to use an apostrophe instead of a slanty line but I don't make a correlation between him not using it and him/them not knowing the difference.

The fact that modern day usage of apostophes is poor in practice as it is, plus the fact that (as I said) modern keyboards don't even have it available, means that if an apostophe-like symbol is used at all ... and in the right place ;\) ... then that is good enough for me.
