> Hi there: > > I love the Justice League and most of its incarnations but I have to say this new series is just not well written. It is so Red Tornado-centered and the story is just not gelling together for me. > > Anyone else enjoy the series? Sorry I just don't. > > I do like the new Justice Society series, but Meltzer, I'm sorry just is not doing it for me on this series. I think the writing's a little odd, too. But I chalk it up to Meltzer having to create a piece that is charged with being compelling and introducing 12 members and their group dynamics in the first arc. That's a hell of an undertaking. Even if it is moving a little slowly, his characterizations for all these Silver Age, 80s, new Millenium characters are spot on. Meltzer, not unlike Geoff Johns, is gifted with a deft pen for characterization, a knack for making us care about obscure characters, and turning his faves into ours. With so much respect for the genre, he's gonna do good things. But the first arc is so hard. Especially with a cast this big. 12 characters before you involve the supporting cast (Traya, Ollie) and the villains? That's extreme. I think he's doing well for the situation. | |||||||
