I didn't read LAW, but it's a pretty radical, yet very cool change. He's stopped wearing a costume, and is now a tattooed motorcycle-riding jaded reluctant mentor to the new Blue Beetle. It comes off a LOT better in the comic than how I'm describing it.

He's not insane, still a hero, and very cool. I'd suggest picking up an issue of Blue Beetle and giving it a try. It's a GREAT comic.
