Is is possible they went back to get Barry and Wally (and family) were riding the lightning by coincidence? It looks like the legion trapped Barry in the lighting rod the Brainiac 5 was holding ar the end of the story.

They also said it's about time the LOSH had their big three, Karate Kid said Lightning Lad, and the lightning rods have been used for Lightning Lad in the past.

I still think it's Barry in the wand. Lightning Lad's power was just lightning. In the original story, they still needed his actual body to resurrect him.

Narratively speaking, it would make sense if it was Barry. People flashed back to Barry Allen's accident. Lightning Lad has never been associated with the Speed Force in the past, so why do it now.

Unless...and this is a big unless...the Wally and Family that we see really isn't Wally West and his family. This could be a HUGE red herring, where a combination of Ultra Humanite (someone who can transfer his mind to other bodies), Despero (someone who can possess others), and Per Degaton (a Time Traveler) have decided to change the course of the future by taking out the Legion founders.

This leads to the desperate mission into the past, where Degaton has hidden the Legion founders (and Despero, presumably, has mind-wiped the Legion traveling back through time) and it's up to the team to get them back. Garth is dispersed into the ether, and the Legion bring his "essence" back to be reunited with his body.

But, as a failsafe, Ultra Humanite has transferred his mind into someone that looks and runs like Wally West and has also brought back a "family" that resembles the West family to the T. A quick Despero mind-fixin' and a time travel teleport, and you have an inside agent that will use the JLA to turn on the Legionnaires if they were ever going to come back into the 21st century.

Just a thought,
