I don't know that much about the classic villians really. I know they have Despero, Amazo, the Injustice League and the Key. Okay, here are my questions about the JLA villians.

#1. Were the Key and the Justice League ever allies? I read once that the Key was dying at one point, and he came to the Justice League to save his life. What were the circumstances regarding this?

#2. In American Dreams, wasn't the Key in a coma at the beginning of the arc. When did he fall into a coma before the Morrison story?

#3. I saw some of the recent Martian Manhunter series, and was that a White Martian that J'onn was interacting with? I thought they were the bad guys.

#4. In what issues pre-crisis have the JLA and Despero fought, and were they always enemies as well?

Thanks.

Not exactly. The Key tried to blow up a city block to absorb energy to revitalize himself after his psycho-chemicals withered and shrank his body. The JLA thwarted his scheme, but Zatanna compassionately acted to restore him to physical health despite all.

Morrison's story was the place where we learned he'd been in a coma; prior to the story, he simply hadn't appeared anywhere in years.

They were always enemies...and they fought in a whole lot of issues. The DC Guide listed at the top of the comicboards sites will give you a complete Despero bibliography, so you may wish to check there.

If I might add a comment of my own...you seem very keen on the idea of heroes and villains as allies or friends. Any reason for this?
