Sorry, retcon was a bad choice of words in this case. While GJ uses retcons fairly often, he also ignores any development a character has been through in order to give a Silver/Bronze Age feeling. Look at Cyborg and Impluse/Kid Flash for recent examples. I'm not saying that the early changes to Cyborg were good, but they did facilitate some interesting changes and freed him from the angst that was becoming a dead horse. GJ made him look like his 1980's debut and brought back the "I'm a machine" woe-is-me attitude that he workeed through ages ago. Bart became Kid Flash for no other reason than it looked good to have a Kid Flash on the cover of the Teen Titans again. Just like Bart, Roy was "in danger" of becoming his own character and they couldn't have that happen. Instead, Roy ignores his mastery of weapons to stick with a bow-n-arrow routine and starts dating a JLA "pretty bird." Hey Meltzer! Been there, done that!
