Of course not. The two situations are utterly distinct. The new Blue Beetle is a brand new character CONCEPT. Same name but absolutely everything else is brand new and quite original. Such isn't the case with the new Firestorm, who is simply the old Firestorm CONCEPT with brown skin.

DC said, "Let's have a black Firestorm!" - and that's all they gave us. This was pointless.

Such is the case with the new Firestorm but absolutely isn't the case for the new Blue Beetle.

Interesting comment. Which characters do you have in mind?

I agree with your take on Blue Beetle and Firestorm. The Firestorm argument can also be applied to the JLU's use of John Stewart (although the GL concept allows for thousands of GLs and Stewart has a long DC history). Although, even though I am a big Hal fan, I really like the way John Stewart, Green Arrow and Hawkgirl have been used on JLU.
If the JSA did not exist, I would like to see JLAers like Hawkman, Power Girl, Mr. Terrific, Shazam and Mary Marvel join. Due to the makeup of the classic JLA, I think these characters are probably more suitable for the JSA. Although, I liked the use of Mr. Terrific to replace J'onn J'onzz on JLU.
