Define "traditional."

Since 1986, Batman treats every hero like dirt. I miss the good Batman, the one who was healthy enough to laugh with his friends, enjoy a cup of coffee after a mission, and so on.

You can KEEP the "kewl" Batman. He's not cool at all.

Well, like I said, I'm a DC noob. But my impression has always been that the other members of the JLA were somewhat in awe of Batman, since he's able to hold his own among godlings with no powers whatsoever. But it would be hard to be in awe of someone - or even respect them - if they don't respect you back. Hopefully this portrayal is just a flashback to show how far they've come in terms of liking and respecting each other - otherwise I'm not sure why the other members of the JLA would tolerate Batman among them. He's kind of a jerk to them.
