Especially the idea that Amanda Waller/the govt. is backing a group to oppose the JL if they go rogue? JLA instead of Cadmus? The Question and conspiracies? Luthor and the villains in the background somewhere. It all seems. . .familiar.

But everything about Johns run seems sort of familiar. Kind of like the Justice League's greatest hits. Big Darkseid fight? Check. Tower of Babel protocol stuff? Check. Satellite HQ shockingly crashing to earth? Check.

I'm not saying that what Johns is doing isn't well done, but it's DONE, y'know? It's pretty hard to top the 4 seasons of JLAnimated as well as the Morrison/Waid era of JLA. So why try? Why not try to do different things, if that's possible?

I suppose that's not realistic. DC probably wanted Johns to come out swinging with the traditionally big stories.

But it would be nice to see something a little substantively different. And remember, it's not like JLAnimated is ancient history! It went off the air just in 2006 for Pete's sake!

I don't know about JLU but I have been watching a fair bit of Batman:The Brave and the Bold and thinking some of the same thoughts... There are elements in the B&B such as Pandora's Box and Ocean Master/Black Manta's schemes that have turned up in Johns' work lately and it does seem provident that they appeared first in the animated series. There's no way of knowing for sure of course, these are just props and basic tropes that could turn up at any point in the characters history, but on the other hand every writer starts out with an idea they've seen elsewhere...
