Bizarrely I read it, enjoyed it and it never bothered me that the League weren't in it, oddly I didn't really miss them.

Absence of lead characters can work occasionally, here as a prologue to the Darkseid War, it worked fine for me.

But I can see how some JL fans would feel short changed by this.

I wasn't grumbling at the absence of the League as such, rather for me it is a complete waste of time looking back on an erased continuity and pondering metaphysics as to why the Universe eats itself at regular intervals. Johns did all that in 2006. What is the new readership brought in by that rebooting supposed to make of this? Why would any self respecting writer saddle this audience with the fan-fiction element of discussing the companys many Crises and reboots? It is utterly self-indulgent and disrespectful work to put forth, DC and Geoff Johns wiped the board bigstyle with 'Flashpoint', and that coming on top of Infinite Crisis assured that there is nothing left to do but forget the past and make do with the many wonderful things created by the reboot they so meticulously planned in calculated depth and detail.

I have nothing but contempt for this sudden about-face from DC in pandering to a rich past that they well and truly drew a line under in 2011. The bizarre point in Johns' Justice League here is that he even emphasises the point that their Universe (i.e. the publisher) cannot survive another reboot exercise - so why even bring the point up?!

This publisher really doesn't know what it wants....
