    Quote:
*Rao is an intriguing 'threat' ATM despite the ill-pacing and logic-snafus. Here's hoping his 'big' revelation is big enough payoff to balance this less than engaging opening arc. The implication of God Rao ruling Ancient Krypton should be interesting - not to mention curious that a JLA book might rewrite Kryptonian canon some.

I just couldn't damn the book, as despite the flaws, and the shallowness given to exploring Rao's actions on the world, this story is really just Justice League of America 101 - 'Alien invader and his posse arrive on earth to gobble us up'... not if the JLA have anything to say about it.

That simple plotline forms the basis of much of the League's original run, it could be held up as the teams very mission statement. So while the story is uninspired and adds nothing at all new to the formula I find I can't be too critical, as it does entertain. And every writer/artist has to start his career somewhere.
It's just a shame that this doesn't feel or look like it is Bryan Hitch's best work, if anything it looks rushed, perhaps inker Daniel Henriques much carry some of the blame, but in terms of layouts there does appear to be a general lack of flair from Hitch's former high standards...
