No.Jack Knight was already born when Captain X died.Maybe you're thonking
of David Knight being reborn of sorts in the 1950's taking over the role
of the second Starman from Charles McNider after Ted Knight went into
a mental hospital after the war reguard his role in developing the Atomic Bombs that were droped in Japan.

I believe it was during his early Post Crisis DC continuity appearances that Captain X was established as being the grandfather to Firestorm, and I believe he was killed off in modern times by an old WW2 era Russian super-character. I'm not as familiar with the more recent changes to old DC continuity, so it is possible they had Jack become Capt. X in a previous life.
