Hello all. I have some questions regarding the Superman of Earth 2. When I was younger I actually called him the Superman who looks like Reed Richards. lol (forgive me hardcore DC fans) That said, are his powers identical to Kal-El's or are there differances??? I was never really sure of this...but I was under the impression that Supes of Earth 2 might have been slightly weaker (and I know this is all relative when talking about Super man and percieved power levels) I remember an issue when I was younger ...may have been DC special 28 or 29??? maybe ...Anyway I distinctly remember Superman (Earth 2) getting hit by a Nazi bomb and it actually effected him! It staggered him but he got his wind back. (I could be remembering this wrong though...if so help would be appricated) Also in that same issue it looked to me like the Spectre was the most powerful character and he was in a giant form easily 40 feet tall in that issue and commmanded or was himself so kind of aspect of the Grim reaper or the concept of Vengeance..I dont think they got into him being the "Wrath of God" back then... Man that brings back memories and that said I better go figure out what issue that was...lol As always good reading to you all.

E-2 Superman is roughly supposed to be the Golden Age Superman, who had his adventures till into the fifties.

As for his powers, he came from Krypton, a world with higher evolved super athletic humans, which was the orginial source of his powers. Him being stronger, faster and tougher than humans. As more and more powers were heaped on him, the origin of his powers got altered as well.
So basically, he has natural superstrength like all kryptonians, enhanced by the lesser gravivation of the Earth and the yellow sun. It is a bit vague tough.

Why it took him years to develop all of his power is also unknown in a retcon sense. Perhaps psychological reasons, making him holding back, like the other versions of Superman. Yet, in the end, his powerlevels were the same like E-1 Superman, with old age being a possible reason, for him growing slightly weaker.

The natural superpowers angle got later completely nixed as far as Earth 1 Superman was concerned. There it was gravitation and the color of the sun, with the sun playing more and more the deciding factor.

Also after IC, it seems that Powergirl now gains her powers completely from the sun, like the post IC-Superman and Supergirl do.

Hope, this helps.
