> I don't think Johns gets the whole legacy thing as much as people would like to think he does. Remember how he tried to work in a legacy angle in with Jay and Joan Garrick? That ended up going nowhere. Whatever interests he builds in the set up, he usually fails in the follow through. I'd say that's his downfall as a writer.

I'd say its more a case of throwing everything and the kitchen sink at the wall and seeing what will stick. You never can tell what will be popular until you try.

I mean, heck, who would have thought that Sand would be as good a character as he turned into over the run of JSA. He might not be the most popular, but I like that character.

But then, I love Johns work, so I'm going to be an apologist and a defender there.

It reminds me a bit of Chris Claremont's throwing out a dozen subplots in every issue of X-Men, many of which were never touched on again or returned to so many issues later we'd forgotten all about them. Johns has more discipline in my opinion that Claremont so it's not so bad here.

I hope Sand returns in a bigger role too. I kinda like his new look but it's a bit too "spooky" for my taste. I liked his military-style gear from the beginning of the last series. It seems like they're playing up the dream angle and playing down the geomorph thing, which is fine by me.

I'm not slagging either!
