I know that the new Sandman is Sand, but I wish they would return Sand to the geomorph aspect which apparently has been abandoned. When Mr. T became chairman, Sand was downplayed to the point that he disappeared from the previous series. I always found it interesting that after being a sidekick to one of the big guys, he would eventually get to lead the team. Another great aspect was the being stuck in a glass prison for years where he watched films. I used to love it when he would use film references since he practically grew up on them. Sand was a great character that for some reason was sent into limbo. Anyone remember the tension with Hawkman and Hawkgirl? That was a great subplot that was never really fully developed. I love the new JSA, but I would still like to see great characters that were forgotten in the previous series.

The problem with Sand is that he lost his focus with Mr. Terrific as leader, Dr. Mid-Nite as the human stealthy character, and with Rick Tyler's precognition overriding Sand's dreams. All 3 of those characters took his place on the team. Hopefully, his return as Sandman will give him more to do.
