> I've just read this issue for the secondd time, and I have slightly mixed feelings on it, I love the two Wildcats (Tommy has potential, I think, although I still question the wisdom of giving Ted a son) and I liked the scenes between Power Girl and Starman. It was nice to see Jesse defending Damage, who had simply made a mistake to (don't ask me WHY I liked that, but I did for some reason).
I didn't like that Tom became the new Wildcat, I was hoping for a more impressive ending then the typical "oh, hero's son joins team in first arc after being discovered".... it just felt a bit like a cliche to me.
> Seeing the (now disgraced) F.B.I agent Graves take up the identity of mr. America was also a nice touch (arguably, not a suprise, but a nice touch none the less) and it exemplified ted's speech to Tommy personally. As a fan of the DnA Legion, and anti Waid's Legion, I was also pleased to see Dream Girl. I don't know what's happening with this (and Dream Girl's relationship with Star Boy acknowledged) but I *am* looking forward to the JSA/JLA cross-over (although I won't be picking up the JLA issues, if I can avoid it).
I love when Geoff writes scenes like that, the intercutting and the various panels always make me realize how a comic can sometimes trump movies and TV when it comes to storytelling.
> The only thing I'm not sure about is Power Girl as Chairwoman, I just don't think it will work for her character (of course, it doesn''t help that I'm not fond of the character anyway), I would be MUCH more interested in seeing Stargirl as the chairwoman, given how much she has matured whilst she has been with the JSA. Power Girl as chairwoman doesn't work for me, simply because I consider her a scrapper, and a powerhouse but NOT chairwoman material. I'm also not sure about Jesse's power level, and I would like Geoff take some time to define that as well as establish exactly how long they have been married. (It's a mibnor detail, but it would add to the characters for me.)
I have to admit, the injury to Jesse seemed pretty serious but I ignored that since several panels later she was up and helping Damage take out the Nazi. I agree that Courtney has matured but I'm not sure is she is ready to lead like that. Power Girl as the chairperson seems odd but DC had been setting her up to be an equal to Superman in terms of leadership (just my opinion, but you can't deny that DC has incread Karen's profile in recent years). I'm curious if Michael Holt will return as well as seeing the JLA/JSA crossover. I can't wait for that. Geoff and Dale have really done a great job so far with this new volume.
