I couldn't agree with you more re: loving the new JSA title.
> > Firstly, I enjoy the new JSA title. Listed below are some candidates I would like to see join the JSA:
I can't see any of the characters mentioned as possible candidates for the JSA, however, as intriguing as the are.
> > Nightwing
Dick has the Outsiders. If anything, I saw him as the next JLA member.
Plus, the deceased Earth-2 Robin was a JSA member although he was retconned out of existence during the first Crisis (sigh). Can anyone confirm what comic issue it was that Flash ran into him per an earlier post here?
> > Red Robin/Red Hood
I have to admit Jason is still very mentally unstable. He would not be a worthy successor to the Robin mantle. Jason is real interesting but I don't see him being spun into a JSA member the way Black Adam was.
> > Green Arrow
The Earth-2 Green Arrow would have been a potentially great member. Alas, another great hero retconned out of existence by the first Crisis (sigh times two).
> > The All-New Atom
Damage fills the bill as the Al Pratt successor, of course, after Atom Smasher.
> > Starfire (if she survived 52)
There is no direct connection to the JSA. I just don't see it.
I do like the possibilties of this new Mister America.
> The only one who you can really argue as a Golden Ager or legacy in the current DCU timeline is the Atom. He may fit the current theme of the book and team but the others would take work. Starfire would seem to be right out of the legacy perspective (and certainly doesn't need training/mentoring from the previous generation). The only way you can make an argument for Dick, Jason, or Ollie is by working in some kind of alternate reality concept that allows them to stand in as "pseudo" GAers or legacies. I like the idea of the JSA as the originals giving wisdom, training, and guidance to their legacies and those of their "family" who have passed on. Its a neat idea to me and I would hate to see most of you list brought in to dilute that concept.
