I believe that was use to reference that they remember being on Earth-2, which did have both Batman and Robin during WWII.

In the original continuity the Earth-2 Robin did. He appears in some old All-Star Squadron issues. So, if we are going to the JSAers remembering Earth-2 on some level, than at least in their memories some Robin should have existed then.
