This one part throws me-

"No. The machine created the 52 worlds as exact replicas of the mainstream DC universe, but Mister Mind's cosmic rampage changed each of the other worlds into alternate versions.

I thought Alex and Prime were trying to create DIFFERENT realities, and that's why they were forcing together different versions of Earth, trying for a "just right" reality.

Why (and HOW) is it now being said that each world/reality created was identical to the mainstream? I mean, didn't we even SEE that the new worlds were variants?

Also, WHAT cosmic rampage on the part of Mr. Mind? I wasn't aware of that part, and that's part of what I wanted to know. (And again, if the worlds were already different, how can HE now be said to have caused the differences? Were Alex and Prime working with him to alter each world their machine created?)

Side point:
I only asked about Power Girl, Ray Palmer, and Hal because of some things said further down on the board. Someone seemed to suggest that Ray and Hal also exist on the new Earth-2, and someone else said something about PG's origin.

Alex used his tuning fork to separate the post-Crisis earth into the multiverse. When Superboy died destroying the fork during his fight with Superboy-Prime, it all recombined. However, there was too much energy left for the one Earth to handle, and the Earth copied itself so that there were 52 identical Earths.

All of this is in 52 #52, Mr. Mind's new form feeds on space and time. He was chasing Rip Hunter, Booster, and Supernova around the new multiverse, and feeding at the same time...the bits of spacetime he ate on every Earth they visited changed the exact copy into something different.

There was a line in Action Comics last week, Superman was scanning Power Girl trying to account for a third Kryptonian that a character mentioned detecting a few months ago. The scanner didn't show her registering as Kryptonian, and Superman made a point to say that it was because she was from the Krypton of another dimension.
