> > > Sorry but the direction they've taken with Black Adam in 52 and now his mini are indicative of all that's wrong with DC right now. Too dark, too disturbing, and too much shock value blood and gore.
Well I couldn't agree more with you there. It is less heroic... it is the force the heroes hand(s) kind of stories. Frankly I think the writers of late are simply writing stories about berserkers with powers rather than heroes with thought processes.
I mean when fifty chara are whaling on Black Adam... and he is unstoppable. It just seems ridiculous.
Supergirl in the original Crisis nearly kills Anti-Monitor (No thanks to that stupid girl Dr Light) and Wonder Woman (Donna) can't match Black Adam?.. and Power Girl was there too? Ummm did anyone see how "Going to town" PG was during Infinite Crisis when she was jumped by a ton of villains? and at least PG is a brawler type brick. Between PG and Donna/WW they should have walked all over Black Adam. (For some reason I kept getting a "Kingdom Come" feel from this book.)
> I thumbed through the mini at the shop and regret having some of those panels in my brain. It's even spoiled me on sampling anything the writer does in the future.
Can't fault you there. I think some of the editoral decisions being handed down at DC need to be curbed a bit. It is all too much... too big... too out of control... It wears a person thin. Compound that with your line "Regret having some of those panels in my brain"... I base that primarily on the fact that your sick of seeing the heroes not think... not act approprately... and not succeed (and when they do it is by the skin of their teeth or one of the big guns has to come in and pull their butts out of the fire).
Do they even know who these chara are anymore? Do any of these writers look back at the chara's history? It is almost like best guess then let the Chaos insue... it's silly... it's trite... it insults our senses as fans... and it is going to drive people away.
> > I have not read any of these issues. Could someone give me a synopsis of the plot? Just curious are they as bad as early Image Spawn issues (a good example of style over substance). I am wondering what the plot is supposed to be in Black Adam: The Dark Age??
> The plot is this; after 52 is over, Teht-Adam's journey to restory his powers and attempt to bring Isis back.
You know... Did the writers ever once think about having Black Adam ask for help to bring her back? Instead of doing the rampage across the globe thing? I mean... he could have at least told them help me or else...
Though I am gonna give the comics I have chosen at DC a year (Maybe a little more) to prove me wrong. I see DC as being corrupted by the influx of new writers who have no knowledge of what and who the chara are. What they represent and their treatment of said chara.
Now we have "FINAL CRISIS" to contend with... and God (or the Specter) only knows where that is gonna lead us.
One thing is for certain. It better lead to a more solid universe (52-multiple-parallel-whatever)... just get the damn thing strightened out.
Far as I am concerned... someone should break the rules... step back in time... kill the Anti-Monitor before he amasses all that power.
Infinite Earth's survive (That means every story DC ever did has a place on at least one earth)
No Harbinger files for the Manhunters to get (We get Katar and Shayera back, Wally's Blue Valley Parents are wholesome and good natured, Lana was just a country girl, Laura Kent was a surviving relative of the "House of El", Barry never died... cause his sacrifice was stupid at this point anyhow... etc... etc... etc...)

That might be true except Black Adam during WWIII had Isis' power added to his and so he was roughly twice as powerful as usual.
