I thought that Sandman Mystery Theatre was a good read and like Matt Wagner's take on the character. Wesley Dodds is interesting with or without the JSA to me. It has a good sense of the time period its set in and I believe there are two (one for sure) tp out. The old issues are not going for that much and as a rule of thumb..if you like Robinson's Starman you probably are going to like SMT. Good reading to you.

SMT is one of my favorite comic runs of all time, though be warned that it goes for a great deal of violence. If you don't want to venture into the whole series, I would recommend the first arc which introduces the character and cast, the Mist arc (which gives the background to Sand & Stars), and the Hourman arc which is the most straightforward superhero.
