I agree w/ Punchy.

The JSA is taking the role as being the training ground for new heroes who need somebody to show them the way. The RIGHT way, as defined by the first generation of heroes and as endorsed by the Big 3 of the JLA.

Righteous cause or no, Atom Smasher was very publically on the controversial side of world conflicts led by Black Adam. To bring him back into the fold would send a mixed message to the newer and impressionable members of the JSA.

Al pled guilty in a court of law and allowed himself to be taken to prison. His moral code dictates that he's to do some penance for his deeds. I think some sort of "Suicide Squad" role for him would allow him to pay this debt as well as do more good then he could by rotting in some cell.

And to further speed up that debt repayment, he should be forced to go back to his Nuklon look. Viva le red mohawk. \:\-\)
