I won't get to read this until next week, but it seems that the team is struggling about the membership of those that exemplify the reasons given for this incarnation: to help the future generation of heroes ie Steel, Damage, Magog, and Atom Smasher, all characters that need help and direction.

Meanwhile, how does Judomaster fit in? Wildcat II always seemed unsure about even being a hero, he was dragged in because killers were targeting legacies. Just because you have powers doesn't mean you have to go out and fight crime.

Wildcat says Mr. America doesn't bring enough to the team? Pot calling the kettle black? The JSA at one time included as members Wildcat, the Atom, Sandman, Batman/Robin, Mr. Terrific. All normal human beings. While Hawkman was completely normal apart from being able to fly and Dr. Mid-nite could just see in the dark. If anything, this team has gotten so powerful, it seems to forget fact that at one time half the team were very street level type characters.

The whole issue with Hawkman, just illustrates how far wrong they went with his characterization and personality, basing it more on a panel in Robinson's GOLDEN AGE than the 50 years of comic history before it. He was not only a founding member but it's steadiest member and longest running chairman. But, this Conan the Barbarian characterization of Hawkman flies in the face of all of that.
