DC continuity has gotten so convoluted, I don't think Johns understood the nature of "Black" Mary's powers. He made it sound like she had a portion of Black Adam's power, but she had given it all back to him some time ago and her current power comes from Darkseid, at which point she began serving him in Final Crisis.

Between her two stints as Black Mary, she also got her own powers back from the Greek Gods, who bestowed them upon her for her helping to save them from Darkseid's forces. I don't know how Shazam could remove them, and even if he could, how he'd have the right since he didn't bestow them this time.

And boy, dying in comics has gotten really cheap. Just in the past couple of months, we've seen the resurrection of Isis, Shazam, the original Quasar, and Moondragon

By the way, is this page still being maintained? The comics in the preview pane above dates back to February and it's now April.

Wow I was really excited about Johns final arc being about Black Adam and the Marvel Family. Johns has always done such a respectful job when writing them that I had hoped he would do his own Marvel series.
Gotta say the lack of logic, cohesion, continuity has made this a going out with a whimper goodbye arc.

As you mention GJ seems out of sync with how the Marvels are operating in the rest of the universe. A huge new addition with Billy's dad and the return of Isis and the Wizard all seem to be rushed.

So far pretty ambitious and pretty dissapointing. I think this would have been a great story line if FLASH REBIRTH and GL Darkest Night weren't in the offing but put those together and this was just one thing too many. Or at least that's how it seems. Too bad.

I don't follow JSA regularly but I got interested in Captain Marvel thanks to Kingdom Come and I was a huge fan of the Trials of Shazam!

I truly fail to grasp how that concept didn't work for the majority of the fans. I get that there's a hard core fan base for the old school version of CM but I thought that what was attempted was really excellent in terms of bringing the character up to speed with the times. My only conclusion is 'different strokes for different folks'.

That all said, I get the impression that just about everything I liked from ToS is being wiped out. Can someone explain
1) How B.A. could apparently outpower Billy Batson? I never had the impression that he could have gone head on with the original Wizard.
2) Ok, the Wizard's back from the dead. (These days who isn't!?!) What's with the attitude against Billy and Freddie? Billy has only given his entire life to the Wizard's cause. Freddie seems to have not been involved at all with that particular story and was only recently judged by the SHAZAM gods themselves as being 'worthy'. So The Wizard knows better then the Wisdom of Solomon and the has more clout than the power of Zeus???

It's because of things like this that I hardly ever read DC books anymore.
