Quote:I think it's an strong start with a nice introduction of a few of the supporting cast. I liked that Karen has a male assistant. I do think Power Girl should display a little more of her abrasive side so she's not just your typical nice superhero. Ultra-Humanite is a good villain for her, but I hope Palmiotti and Gray will give her her own arch-nemesis, someone who is a physical match against a Kryptonian. They should also emphasize the Power part of her name so that a female hero can get in on some of the spectacular feats male heroes get all the time. Amanda Connor's work is now at her peak, and I'm liking it a lot more than I was expecting. Previously I had found her art a tad too cartoony.
So Ultra Humanite is back from the "dead"? IIRC, the last time we saw him, his brain was stepped on and he supposedly died. (I don't remember which issues, but it was in the middle of the last JSA series, maybe in the 30's? I think it featured Rick's return as Hourman.) Has he been seen since then? Was his return explained?
He's been around since Infinite Crisis. Nu-Earth and all that. In the aftermath of the Lightning Saga crossover with JLA, his brain (which was revealed to be inside the body of Dolores Winters, who was resurrected by the timeline changes of Infinite Crisis) was removed and taken to the future by Per Degaton and Despero. In the future, they put it into a new albino ape body.
That's right. I forgot about the UH, Degaton, Despero team up, mostly because the story never went anywhere.
