Quote:He's hard to write because Thunderbolt is so powerful. Theoretically, JJ and Thunderbolt should beat 99% of the villains out there in 2 seconds so when he doesn't, the writer has to come up with some inane contrivance.
The that tell me this title needs better writers. Johnny Thunder was a member of the JSA for many issues and had solo stories on his own. They got around the power of the Thunderbolt by making Johnny a bumbler but it worked. In the 60's the Spectre's powers were limited when he was bound to the Jim Corrigan of Earth one to make his stories more believable. I say get a good writer to come up with a good reason to limit the Thunderbolt and bring JJ back.
Quote:Totally disagree with this. One of the things that make these people heroes is that they don't take the law into their own hands and play judge, jury, and executioner. I mean, of course in real life if there were superheroes and supervillains, then there would be deaths galore on both sides, but it's a comic book and comic books have conventions. One of them is that villains never get the death penalty and they escape repeatedly. Otherwise, the Joker would have died a long, long time ago.
Sure there has always been that convention but there was also always the convention that villians very seldom killed or mortally wounded superheroes or their immediate loved ones and in the rare instances that they did they were usually delt with severely by the end of the story. That convention has gone out the window. If DC is willing to do things like slaughter half the Freedom Fighters just to kick off a Crisis then it's time to level the playing field and start wiping out some of the of the irredeemable villians who just keep coming back and killing more innocent people. Sooner or later the heroes have to realize that those deaths are there heads for not putting an end to the problem when they had the chance.
