I can accept that point of view though Kent Nelson to me was largely inaccesable due to those reasons. Aloofness can work only when it's balanced by something to counterpoint it and Inza was never enough of a counter. Actually a good contrast is the 90s series where Inza ended up with the Doctor Fate identity, by switching places you got the sort of stories out of Doctor Fate that could never really be possible if Kent was in charge, it also helped of course that they relocated from the tower to a central location in the city. I guess it depends on what you're looking for from Doctor Fate...

I think the difficulty with the Dr. Fate character is his vague set of powers which for me makes him an uninteresting character (like the Phantom Stranger)... DC seemed to try and rectify this when the made Hector Dr. Fate and gave him limitations and an acutal personality.. The conflict with Nabu and his hubris and determination in finding Lyta only to be tricked by Mordru multiple times made him stand out to me more than any other Fate in my memory. \:\)
