Some interesting further clarification to all this just appeared on Newsarama.
It's all very exciting but alienating - Carter Hall without the Reincarnation and Egyptian background sounds like a betrayal to me, why not just ressurect Katar Hol or create some new character if you're going to strip away fundamentals like this?

On the other hand I think James Robinson as writer and architect on a new Justice Society is about as perfect as it gets. \(yes\)
I've reread a lot of the original lead up to the 1999 relaunch where Robinson was one of the guiding lights behind that reinvention and it really is excellent, he's proved as late as his JLA run he is adept at handling large casts and if the JSA is now in its own corner of the DCU this should be a very fine book indeed. He is both a traditionalist and a forward thinker just like Geoff Johns but his plotting tends to be more dense and meticulous, he's my ideal choice for bringing back this book and these characters... I'm already warming to the idea of the team back on its own seperate earth with it's own sense of importance, I'd like it if they moved the Marvel Family out to their own earth as well while they're at it. \:\)

I'm honestly not sure whether this new Hawkman should be eligible for discussion and attention on this board given these substantial changes and lack of any direct JSA tie, shall have to give it some thought... But at least I know now why James Robinson eventually passed on it. \(yes\)
