I am curious on what the status quo for this E-2 world once the current story line is finished? I know you are not an insider but your reviews and comments are very good and I cant see anyway out for this that doesnt equal reboot. That is unless D.C. does something unexpected and it becomes the new 'Great Disaster' universe. Maybe turning it into' The New Gods' main universe.

It is a mystery as to where all this is going I agree, is there a method to it or is it purely gratuitous sales candy?
The important thing to fix on when pondering the outcomes is that Earth-2 is important to DC. There's the much anticipated Justice League crossover coming next year, and that will be one of their huge summer/autumn spectacles, there is also the waiting to be tapped franchise potential of this Earth-2 title, in fact that might inform what is happening right now as whenever a revamped title like this turns out to be a great success and the writer responsible is proving an obstacle (think of JM Straczynski on Thor) this is what you get. New writer, massive commercial exploitation.
As with Thor James Robinson's revamping of the concept was taking its time to unfold in order to build a world readers could really invest in, this in fact was part of its appeal, intelligent storytelling and meticulous plotting. And I am convinced that what happened to Straczynski happened to Robinson...

DC are refitting Earth-2 to fit their expansion agenda and I would hazard a guess what we're seeing right now will end up as the lead in for the Justice League meeting, from what I can glean this will likely involve Darkseid, whom DC have said will be appearing in the League next year. With the shape Earth-2 is in right now and the lack of anyone to credibly resist Evil-Superman and the hordes of Parademons, then the world is going to be left in even worse shape than it is now.
Clearly there will have be a reset of some manner, though how to do that in a credible way I don't know. The Apokolips War is such an integral part of this world's history and make-up any reset may dilute the appeal going forward.

One possible, and in-built, way out they have is in the missing Alan Scott. We've seen he is the earth spirits avatar and we saw him reverse the effects of Grundy's corruption on the entire earth. It might be just about conceivable he turns out to be the one who revitalises earth... because the only alternative is literally a shattered world.
