    Hippolyta wasn't nearly as strong as her daughter, according to an early JSA secret files for example she is "Strong enough to lift a car and throw it ten metres". In support of this consider that much later in the Amazon's Attack storyline Wonder Woman was shown as very convincingly her physical superior in what was a very one-sided clash.
    The point about Hippolyta's carreer as Wonder Woman was that she was to fill the Golden-Age slot in the Justice Society, and while I am not sure her strengh level was static throughout her career it was never at all on the scale of her daughters... indeed at very best it may have been on the level of Diana as she was pre-1985.
