Quote:Not beyond the Spectre though!
In the New 52 universe we have barely seen The Spectre, I couldn't even tell you what his modern agenda is... Wrath of God or something else now?
Quote:And interesting that despite all of their powers, the netahumans on earth 1 have managed to stop them so far...
To some extent yes, but the effort needed and the manner they used make it clear exceptional means were necessary in nearly all cases:_
*Steppenwolf was taken unawares by Brutaal/Superman who tore him in half. The resultant explosion of Godfire from Steppenwolf's body tore a gash across the planets surface...
*The Beguiler seems unstoppable and has overpowered The Green Lantern in direct combat, in an all-out show of speed The Flash saves his friends by taking the New God on a superspeed journey so fast it sends them into an equivalent of The Speedforce... The Beguiler is obliterated by the journey.
*Bedlam is stopped by Aquawoman, who uses her water controlling power to move fluid to the God's brain giving him a stroke. He will recover and latterly be maneuvored into entering a psychic prison inside Terry Sloan's head.
*The Four Furies arriving for World's End are embodiments of the Horsemen of Apocalypse, technically not New Gods but mortals transformed into servants of Darkseid. Overpowering the ammassed heroes they split to begin preparing earth: 'Death' moves to destroy Atlantis, overpowering all its formidable defences and forcing Aquawoman to call on the unthinkable - to reawaken the lovecraftian elder God Azathoth to stop the pseudo-New God.
Famine after overpowering Flash and Hawkgirl appears to fall at Doctor Fate's hand, but her power rebounds from his spell and is now rampaging across the earth unchecked.
Thus far they remain at large and as with even the rank and file Parademons are clearly seen as formidable opposition for any conventional metahuman.
As with the New Gods over in Green Lantern's just completed Godhead storyline The New Gods are generally so powerful they are barely touchable to the average superhuman. It takes an exceptional effort to actually be able to engage one, never mind defeat one...
