If Earth 2 survives and stories continue, I say give it a year, maybe two, and somehow Kal-El will be alive again. Naturally, he'll be evil, even if powerless.

I dunno if any of that will happen, tho'.

Didn't we see glimpses of the aftermath, and Earth 2 survivors (including Kara) being held prisoner on the mainstream Earth? (Or did those events already happen?)

That was in the Future's End series, set in a future which may or may not happen. But as it stands Earth-2 is a sries which looks to be heading over the cliff and into the Abyss. In many ways what is happening is reminiscent of Keith Giffen's Legion of Super-Heroes with the Bierbaums writing his plots... mass destruction, not longterm thought for the future, and culminating in the destruction of Earth itself. And that was well and truly the end for the Legion.

    EDIT:
I'm also royally annoyed they killed Helena. What is it with DC and The Huntress these days?

Helena isn't dead. And I shall be very displeased if it did come to pass.
At the moment the future looks bleak for Earth-2 and what role Helena has here is very unclear. There were some indications that it would be Power Girl being being written out, but at the moment this book is totally up in the air, I have no idea what will become of this bunch.
