Is Aquawoman the maddest ruler on the planet? Well, thinking on it she may well be the ONLY ruler on the planet after evil-superman's rampage. Dear Queen Marella... the last three times we saw her highness she was flip-flopping between being benevolent hero and ruler to suddenly declaring War on the surface world. Hers is a bi-polar inexplicable approach to characterisation that adds to the general air of criticism to this whole Worlds End exercise. Characters will suddenly turn about-face for no reason, stuff happens, the world burns, and the fuel of the narrative is destruction. Because as DC have proved over the last ten years such storytelling is easy. It's what comes after that is difficult.

Case in point #2 - Terry Sloan. What is Terry Sloan doing in the company of Mr's Terrific and Miracle, and welcomed as an equal partner to boot? Sloan's is another character who has been rewritten at regular intervals, Earth-2 resident who ruthlessly shortened the War and now other dimensional traveller who for some reason Darkseid used to guide the way to attacking Earth-2 in the first place. It's all very strange. Now after being unveiled as the ultimate traitor to mankind here he is safe in the Endeavor and allied with Terrific and Miracle... next week, who knows.

The Flash gives up. This is a moment where a characters motives are at least comprehensible, if cowardly, but execution fails to deliver the necessary resolution to Jay Garrick's momentary lapse by having him quickly rise once again to be true to his nature as good man and hero. Still, here lies a fine example of the excellent Tyler Kirkham's rich illustrations for this week.

Is Maria Hill the most important and influential character to come out in the last ten or so years? I would argue yes. And here we have Major Sonia Sato, known as Judomaster in a previous continuity. Sato not only fills a Maria Hill role on Earth-2 but looks like Hill... it's almost plagiarism....

"You want to know who the Superman of this world is...? It's me!". A great closing moment. If suicidal on Supergirl's part.

Terry Sloan's look reminds me of Metron. Is there some connection?
