It was February 1976, and and whether it was seen by browsers and fans as an anachronism or a welcome home for the Justice Society, one cannot but help admire the simple joy of comicbooks and bask in the energy contained in these pages, as Ric Estrada is teamed with Wally Wood to update the JSA with some fresh faces and a more modernday setting. All-Star Comics #58 is a landmark book of the era, indeed the series as a whole going forward would prove to have a life that went well beyond its status as a casualty of the DC Implosion. This issue see's the first appearance of Power Girl... just over a year later a little regarded title called DC Super Stars would debut The Huntress. Who would then join Power Girl as a partner and serve with the JSA come issue #72 of All-Star Comics.
But more than 'firsts' All-Star Comics was just a rollicking good superhero read... one that stands up to rereading today.
Brought to you by Gerry Conway, Ric Estrada and Wally Wood.
