Kara Zor-L... in a sense this is Supergirl if she had been created in the mid 1970s, rather than the patriarchal 1950s. The contrast between the two is fascinating when considered from a social context.
From today's perspective that early interpretation of Power Girl can seem unduly bullish and rude, but the appeal of her attitude and determination to be utterly independent is impossible to deny. Indeed one could say her bolshy characterisation was her entire selling point. It was so different to anyone else's in mainstream comics of the time.
