It is a solicitation which brings mixed feelings for me. The truth of the matter is this book was struck a decisive blow the moment that James Robinson was forced off the series he skillfully created and established, after just over a years and a half's worth of work.
The turmoil and carnage that followed has somehow managed to last nearly four years, and from the moment this current series was launched the omens were not at all good for its future. In a sense then this is a mercy killing, a book that had been throttled of all chances and wringed clean of all of the fresh inventiveness of which James Robinson and Tom Taylor brought into it. Here is a series that was one of the most successful rebootings of the New-52 intiative and the most sinned against, but my sympathies have to go out to current creators Dan Abnett and Bruno Redondes as their work in actively trying, and partially succeeding, to regenerate the series and its potential had actually managed a great success these last two issues... if there was any justice the end of 'Society' should be the natural signal that the cast of characters are to officially take up the Justice Society name and move forward in their newly reinvigorated world under the banner of a new series. But we know this is not likely to happen. And perhaps that is for the best. As despite a potentially wonderful cast of characters that potential was thrown away three years ago, and the series never recovered...
In the end it's all a great waste and a great shame. But then it was equally a waste and a great shame that the original Justice Society was allowed to decline under Marc Guggenheim's management and the final end with the New 52 reboot.
Can i ever have faith in DC and its commitment to the Justice Society again?
...is that the Huntress, Robin, and Batman come across the true secret of this newly rewritten reality: a vault underneath the city that the trio of heroes open and suddenly we realize we're under Monument City in the DCU and in the vault are the JSA heroes right before Flashpoint who are in suspended animation, waiting for the trio to wake them up.
